Lost Canyon Groundwater Treatment Facility
Lost Canyon Groundwater Treatment Facility
Lost Canyon 2A and Sand Canyon Groundwater Treatment Facility
SCV Water is embarking on a new water treatment project to restore local water affected by PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). The Lost Canyon Project will construct a centralized groundwater treatment facility that uses ion exchange treatment, which is a proven treatment option for removing PFAS from our groundwater.
The project is located along Lost Canyon Road, between Sand Canyon Road and La Veda Avenue, and near Sulphur Springs Elementary School in Canyon Country.
Project highlights include:
- Improvements to the existing Sand Canyon and Lost Canyon 2A wells, including ion exchange treatment vessels, cartridge filters, chemical building and site security
- Replacement of an approximately 1,700 feet of 14-inch pipeline along Lost Canyon Road
- Decommissioning of the existing Mitchell 5B and Lost Canyon 2 Wells
- Various site improvements including electrical, piping, and access upgrades.
Construction is anticipated to begin in May 2026 and will also ensure a local, reliable water supply for our customers and reduce our reliance on costly imported water.
