Environmental Science Workshop Registration

Environmental Science Workshop Registration

SCV Water’s Environmental Science Workshop (2 hours) is an educational program for high school students (grades 9 through 12) in our service area.

During this exciting summer session, we lead high school students through hands-on labs that examine soil types, soil structure and permeability. Labs are supplemented with interactive lectures on soil horizons, effects of drought on the environment, and environmental laws and regulations. We also provide an overview of the water treatment process and a mini tour of the Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant.

All topics are aligned to the AP College Board Standards.

This summer workshop is conducted at SCV Water on Bouquet Canyon Road. Labs and lectures are both outdoors and indoors giving the students enrichment not available at the school sites.

The 2-hour in-person workshop focuses on:

  • Soil horizons
  • Effects of drought on the environment
  • Environmental laws/regulations
  • The water treatment process
